چکیده

Genetic diversity in crop plants is the conditio sine qua non for sustainable agriculture and long-term food security. Our research carried out morphological, agronomic, physico-chemical characterization resistance to late blight of 35 tomato landraces from seven countries. These have been approved appear Official Catalog Varieties. The International Plant Resources Institute (IPGRI) descriptors used describe tomato’s morphological agronomic characteristics. For characteristics, dry matter, pH, carotenoid content (lycopene, lutein, β-carotene)) were analyzed. Carotenoids monitored by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). results showed that was very high. Three remarkable commercial value shown increased caused Phytophthora infestans, one most damaging diseases tomato. Also, six had a lycopene exceeding 100 µg/g sample. ranged between 0.769 (Marmande-FR 166) 140.328 mg kg−1 FW (Răscruci). landrace with highest β carotene PT 308 65.499 FW, while lowest values registered Marmande-FR 166 0.105 FW. present study provides essential information on qualities these their other content. are discussed light importance meeting preferences different producers consumers, choice suitable specific pedoclimatic conditions, supply pigment sources pharmaceutical industry. responds humanity’s great global challenges: preserving agricultural biodiversity, protecting environment identifying pest-resistant varieties, also consumer health finding important antioxidants.

Fractionation, Stability, and Isolate-Specificity of QTL for Resistance to Phytophthora infestans in Cultivated Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)

Cultivated tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is susceptible to late blight, a major disease caused by Phytophthora infestans, but quantitative resistance exists in the wild tomato species S. habrochaites. Previously, we mapped several quantitative trait loci (QTL) from S. habrochaites and then introgressed each individually into S. lycopersicum. Near-isogenic lines (NILs) were developed, each conta...

Enhancing Brassinosteroid Signaling via Overexpression of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) SlBRI1 Improves Major Agronomic Traits

Brassinosteroids (BRs) play important roles in plant growth, development, and stress responses through the receptor, Brassinosteroid-insensitive 1 (BRI1), which perceives BRs and initiates BR signaling. There is considerable potential agricultural value in regulating BR signaling in crops. In this study, we investigated the effects of overexpressing the tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) BRI1 gene, ...

Accumulation and Resistance to Phytophthora infestans

Active oxygen species (AOS) are responsible for triggering defense responses in plants. Respiratory burst oxidase homologs ( rboh genes) have been implicated in AOS generation. We have isolated two rboh cDNAs, NbrbohA and NbrbohB , from Nicotiana benthamiana leaves. NbrbohA was expressed constitutively at a low level and the transcripts were increased after mechanical stress of control leaf inf...

evaluation of cultivated and wild tomato genotypes (solanum lycopersicum) and (solanum spp.) for resistance to egyptian broomrape (orobanche aegyptiaca)

orobanche aegyptiaca, commonly known as egyptian broomrape, is a holo-parasite that causes high economic damages on tomato production in iran. breeding for resistance is the most economic and feasible method to reduce broomrape infestation. 20 tomato cultivars and four wild tomato species were screened for o. aegyptiaca resistance. tomato yield reduction, dry weight reduction of shoot and root,...
